Uber Eats Gdansk — courier jobs
On the bay a courier's worst enemy is not traffic but the port's timetable and the weather. The Stągiewny Bridge in the centre opens on a ship's request up to seven times a day, and strong winds blow here on an average of 60 days a year — which is why on Uber Eats, where nobody holds you to hours, many people in Gdansk simply arrange their shifts around the forecast.
What working with Uber Eats looks like
On Uber Eats there is nobody to agree your hours with. The Uber Driver app has a single start button, and from that moment it feeds you jobs with the fee on show — you take the ones that suit you and skip the rest without explaining yourself. Your earnings come from the pickup, the delivery and the distance, and the real lever is quests for runs of orders plus multipliers in hot zones.
Gdansk up close: where Uber Eats orders are and at what hours
Where the orders are
Wyspa Spichrzów is a food magnet with a food hall and cafés, though the side streets next to it can be dead — it pays to know which side gives the faster pickup. Jasień has grown by almost 16% in three years and is already the second most populous part of the city, Chełm has one of the highest population densities in Gdansk (over 7,700 people per km²), and Ujeścisko-Łostowice is a still-expanding development from the 2000s.
When to ride
The season is warmed up by St Dominic's Fair from 25 July to 16 August — three weeks, over a thousand stallholders and up to 70,000 visitors a day — while in early July Open'er pulls the crowds to Gdynia-Kosakowo. Winter is a different game: storm days occur on average six times a year, mostly between August and April, and that is when weather supplements appear.
What to ride
Mevo now runs 5,299 bikes, almost 4,000 of them electric, and 829 stations across 17 municipalities — over 400 of them in Gdansk. The tunnel under the Martwa Wisła (1,377 m, free of charge) is the key link between Śródmieście and Stogi, and from 1 May 2026 parking in Sopot is chargeable at weekends too, daily from 9:00 to 22:00, with the first hour at 9.50 zł — which genuinely changes the maths of delivering by car around central Sopot.
Keep an alternative in mind for every crossing of the Motława and the Martwa Wisła — a bridge can open exactly when you are carrying hot food, whereas the tunnel under the Martwa Wisła is free and dependable. When handing an order over by the water, do not put the bag down and do not turn your back on the food: the gulls in the Tricity snatch meals straight out of your hand, and they are keenest when the courier is looking at a phone.
How Uber Eats differs from other apps
Glovo gives the widest stream, Wolt a strong brand in the strict centre, and Uber Eats a freedom that has real value by the sea: in a storm or a heatwave you simply do not go out, because nobody is counting your availability. In summer, when orders are plentiful, Uber Eats pairs well with Bolt Food — provided you only take the second job once the first address has been revealed.
How to become a Uber Eats courier: from the form to your first delivery
An Uber Eats courier account is opened through a settlement partner from Uber's official list — there is no other route today, including for people with their own działalność gospodarcza (sole proprietorship). You fill in the form, upload your documents and sign the contract online; activation most often takes one to three days.
Full name, e-mail, phone — you'll land in the partner's system with fields prefilled.
Everything step by step on the site — no office visit. Do it right away, no need to wait for a call.
Settlements and payouts live there. An advisor may call later — anything up to a week on; your registration keeps moving anyway.

Questions about working with Uber Eats — Gdansk
How much does an Uber Eats courier make in Gdansk?
Across Poland, delivery work usually comes to 25–55 zł net per hour, depending on the city, the app, the time of day and the weather. In Gdansk, in season and riding the peaks, the realistic band is 43–52 zł net per hour; out of season it sits closer to 36–43 zł, depending on the season and your vehicle. These are take-home figures, already after the settlement partner's commission and contributions.
Does Uber Eats operate across the whole Tricity?
The zone covers Gdansk, Gdynia and Sopot, as well as Rumia, Reda, Wejherowo and Pruszcz Gdański. Do the time arithmetic, though: hopping between cities on a single job rarely pays off, especially since May 2026, when Sopot parking became chargeable at weekends too.
What slows jobs down most in central Gdansk?
The opening of the Stągiewny Bridge — it happens on a vessel's request, up to seven times a day, with an hour's notice. The second factor is wind: with 60 windy days a year, a cycle route along the water can be slower than a longer way round.
What documents do I need to deliver with Uber Eats?
There is no upper age limit; the lower one is 18. Besides an identity document, the app will ask for vehicle details (for motorised ones — driving licence, registration document and OC), a bank account number and a short video verification. You sign the contract online with a settlement partner, and account activation normally takes one to three days.
What does a foreigner need in order to ride with Uber Eats?
Beyond your residence document the crucial item is PESEL — it is what unlocks the contract with a settlement partner. Then the basis to work: for citizens of Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Armenia and Moldova usually an oświadczenie o powierzeniu pracy, and for many other groups free access by law. Since July 2026 Uber also requires you to upload your umowa zlecenie (civil-law contract) and checks the legality of your work more closely — it pays to have the full set of papers from day one.
Does Uber Eats require a criminal record certificate?
A criminal record certificate is not something Uber Eats asks for — and do not let anyone tell you otherwise. Uber does not ask couriers for a criminal record certificate from the National Criminal Register, even though some intermediaries' websites claim it does. A trip to court for a certificate is a wasted day and wasted money; what gets checked is your identity and your right to work, not your record.
Do I have to have my own company?
Without a company you ride completely legally: you sign a contract with a settlement partner, and it is they who pay the tax and the ZUS (social insurance) contributions. Direct cooperation between a courier and Uber on your own działalność is no longer possible, so a partner is not an option for beginners — it is the standard route for everyone.
What do I see before I accept a job?
The amount is open from the start: the app shows it together with the restaurant and the approximate delivery area. You only get the exact address with the food already in your bag — in some countries Uber reveals it earlier, in Poland it does not. Thirty seconds is enough time to decide if you know how long it really takes you to cross a given part of the city.
Why does the partner deduct 23% VAT — is that fair?
Uber Eats is the exception to the rule that an honest partner does not deduct VAT. When you accept a job the app shows the net amount, and in your earnings summary you will see the same delivery as a gross figure — the difference is precisely the tax the partner has to pass on to the tax office. That is why you should not compare the figures shown in the Uber Eats app directly with Glovo: divide them by 1.23 first. The ranges quoted above are already take-home, so they need no conversion.
I already ride with Uber Eats under another partner — can I switch?
It is the simplest migration in the industry: no notice periods counted in weeks and no waiting for the end of the month. In practice the whole process fits into two days — one to reassign the account, one for your first settlement with the new settlement partner.
What kind of thermal bag do I need?
Any thermal bag will do — even the one left over from another app, branding of a competitor included. Uber does not sell kit and does not require its own branding; at activation it will only ask for a photo of the open bag with your ID in the frame. A new one you can buy or rent from your settlement partner, often against a deposit that is returned once you start.
Can I combine Uber Eats with other apps?
In summer a second app is more of a necessity than a whim. Uber Eats lets you drop a job with a single move, so juggling is technically easy — the problem is the hidden address, which means you combine routes blind. A practical rule: do not accept a second order before you have seen the exact address of the first.
When and how do I get paid?
The money comes through the settlement partner, not directly from Uber. The most common rhythm is once a week, but you can withdraw more often, and the fastest route is a BLIK cheque: a code from the app and cash from an ATM within minutes.
How do cash orders work?
Cash payment on Uber Eats is voluntary — one toggle in the app settings turns it off. If you leave it on, cash orders arrive marked before acceptance, and the money you collect is reconciled automatically against your cashless balance. Anything the customer does not want back can become a tip, but systematic shortfalls end in an account review.
