Zagan for couriers: the Bóbr, the bypass, the garrison
Glovo with no slots in Poland's armoured capital
Żagań has 22,800 residents (as of 31.12.2025). Since 14 September 2026 Glovo here has worked without booking slots — you switch the app on whenever you have time. For now it is the only delivery app in town; if more arrive, one settlement partner lets you run several at once.
The Bóbr valley and the climbs
The Bóbr river separates the Old Town from the newer part of the city. West of the river the ground rises towards the Żary Hills and to the east towards the Dalków Hills, so leaving the valley often means riding uphill. Bring your own bike, ideally an e-bike, or a scooter.
DK12 on a bypass, paid parking by the Rynek
National road 12 skirts the centre to the east and north on a bypass with a 126 m bridge over the Bóbr. Regional roads DW295 and DW296 also run through town. The paid parking zone (Rynek, Bracka, pl. Słowiański, part of Gimnazjalna) runs Mon–Fri 9:00–17:00; the first hour costs 3 zł.
Estates on 40 km²
Żagań covers 39.98 km², and almost half of that is forest. Blocks of flats stand on the Bema, Szprotawska, Libelta and XXX-lecia estates, Lutnia lies to the north, and Moczyń and Kolonia Laski sit on the southern edge next to rail lines 275 and 14.

Most places to eat are in the centre, around the Rynek and pl. Słowiański — a paid parking zone on weekdays. For bigger shops there is OTO Park on ul. Armii Krajowej (about 6,000 m², opened in 2025) with a supermarket next door, and A Centrum on ul. Ks. Żaganny.
Armour capital and the Great Escape
Żagań is home to the 11th Lubusz Armoured Cavalry Division. The POW Camps Museum on ul. Lotników Alianckich marks the anniversary of the 1944 Great Escape from Stalag Luft III every March.
