Working with Wolt: what the courier job involves

Among couriers, Wolt has a reputation as the most civilised app on the market: no slots, a clear fee on every job and support that answers within minutes. You go online when you want to ride — the rest is there on the screen.

No slot booking — you go online whenever you want to ride
Higher average basket and polite customers — they order from the better restaurants in the centre more often
A polished app and support that genuinely replies

Lodz up close: where Wolt orders are and at what hours

📍

Where the orders are

Śródmieście with Piotrkowska and OFF Piotrkowska is the core; Manufaktura adds the weekends, and the areas around the campuses bring student evenings. The outer estates already mean rarer, longer routes.

When to ride

Evenings 17:30–21:30 are the heart of the traffic; weekend dinners around Piotrkowska can fill a whole shift. Lunches are more modest than in office cities.

🚲

What to ride

Flat Lodz is heaven for a bike or e-bike — Wolt routes here rarely go past 3–4 km. A scooter helps in winter and out to Widzew.

💡 A tip from couriers in Lodz

The centre around Piotrkowska is enough for a whole shift — a run out to Retkinia or Widzew rarely pays for itself in time. In the evening it is worth standing by Manufaktura: jobs from that area usually lead somewhere close.

Wolt or other apps?

In Lodz Wolt stays closer to the centre and the better restaurants; Glovo wins on volume, but that is a separate league. Wolt couriers often add Uber Eats or Bolt Food for the peak hours.

How to start working with Wolt — 3 steps

Wolt does not recruit couriers directly — an account is opened only through a settlement partner from the official list. The partner signs the contract, handles the taxes and walks you through activation; ours is on that list.

1
Fill in the form and proceed to registration

Full name, e-mail, phone — you'll land in the partner's system with fields prefilled.

2
Upload documents and sign the contract online

Everything step by step on the site — no office visit. Do it right away, no need to wait for a call.

3
Download the partner's app

Settlements and payouts live there. An advisor may call later — anything up to a week on; your registration keeps moving anyway.

Questions about working with Wolt — Lodz

How much does a Wolt courier make in Lodz?

Nationwide, the usual range is 25–55 zł net per hour, depending on the city, the app, the time of day and the weather, with Wolt typically in the lower half of that scale. In Lodz it is typically 21–32 zł net per hour at the peaks — less competition than in Warsaw and lower living costs. You see the fee for a job before you accept it.

Where are most Wolt jobs in Lodz?

Piotrkowska and around it, plus Manufaktura — that is where the restaurants Wolt carries from are concentrated. In the evening, circle within 2 km of OFF Piotrkowska.

Does Wolt work in Lodz during the day too?

It does, but lunches are more modest than the evenings. If your time is limited, aim for the 17:30–21:30 window and weekend dinners.

What documents do I need to deliver with Wolt?

Polish citizens need a dowód osobisty (ID card). Foreigners add a passport and a document confirming legal stay — a karta pobytu (residence card), a visa or PESEL UKR. You go through the paperwork with the partner's advisor, who will tell you exactly what applies in your case.

Do I need to register my own business?

A company of your own is not needed — through a settlement partner you ride completely legally without registering a działalność gospodarcza (sole proprietorship). The contract, the taxes and the ZUS (social insurance) contributions are on the partner's side, and our partner is on Wolt's official list of partners.

Do I have to accept every job?

You can decline offers, and nobody penalises you for declining as such. Wolt gives no official threshold, but your acceptance rate is visible in the app — couriers usually advise keeping it above 60%, and ideally somewhere near 80%. Dropping a job you have already accepted is different: the number of those is limited and they go through support.

Is my city actually taking on couriers?

Recruitment at Wolt opens and closes city by city, and an account is activated only when yours is open. Before you start collecting papers, the partner's advisor will confirm how things stand where you are.

Do I have to book slots with Wolt?

There is no slot booking at Wolt — you log into the app when you want to ride and take the jobs that suit you. That is a big difference from Glovo: no planning your calendar in advance.

How do jobs reach me, and how do I know what I will earn?

The app offers you a job with the route and the fee on screen — you decide whether to take it. The amount depends on distance (a maximum of 10 kilometres is paid), on how many orders are active and on the weather, and at peak times fees get boosted. Wolt publishes no price list: every job is priced separately.

Will I get equipment — a bag and a jacket?

A thermal bag is compulsory, but Wolt neither issues nor sells kit — you get it from the settlement partner, buying or renting. A bag you have already used on another app is usually enough to start. Branded clothing, if there is any at all, comes from the partner rather than the platform.

Do tips go to the courier?

The tip amount shows in your settlement alongside the fee for the job and stays with you. Some couriers say tipping happens less often on Wolt than on Uber Eats — treat it as a bonus, not a plan.

Can I combine Wolt with other apps?

Couriers often keep Wolt as the main app and add Uber Eats or Bolt Food so they are not standing around between peaks. It is not combined with Glovo, though, whose stream of orders fills the whole shift.

Do I need to speak Polish?

Basic Polish or English is perfectly enough — the app runs on the map, and contact with the customer comes down to handing over the order. You can go through registration and support in Russian or Ukrainian.

I already deliver with Wolt under another partner — can I switch?

Moving to another settlement partner is handled on a monthly cycle: both partners file the request, and the account passes to the new one after the month ends. You do not have to stop riding — the current month is settled by your existing company. We describe the whole process on a separate page.
