Bolt Food Lodz — courier jobs

Lodz starts later than any other Bolt Food city — orders flow here from roughly 10:00 — so forget the morning shift and plan your day from the afternoon onwards. It is also a city where the food scene is concentrated on a handful of very specific streets rather than spread across the districts.

Working with Bolt Food: what the courier job involves

Bolt Food is the delivery app from the Bolt family — the same one behind the rides. For a courier that means, above all, zero planning: you book no slots, declare no hours and collect no points to unlock the schedule. You switch the app on, an order offer arrives with the fee and the address already visible, and you have about a minute to decide. There is a flip side, and we say it plainly: there are fewer orders here than on Glovo or Wolt, which is why most couriers keep Bolt Food as their second app.

You see the fee and the address before you tap "accept"
The city is split into zones with multipliers — the same route can pay very differently
Zero planning — no slots, no minimum hours, no booking ahead

📍

Where the orders are

Beyond Piotrkowska, the real cluster is ul. 6 Sierpnia: a two-kilometre stretch holding several of the highest-rated restaurants in the city. Add Monopolis on Kopcińskiego and Księży Młyn as post-industrial complexes with food venues of their own, and on the residential side Teofilów, Olechów-Janów and Retkinia — longer routes, but calmer traffic.

When to ride

Śródmieście, at a density of 8,500 people per square kilometre, generates the bulk of the orders, while the rest of the city has barely a third of that — which explains why it pays to circle close to the centre. Evenings comfortably beat lunches, and the ŁKS–Widzew derby is one of the few days when demand jumps in two areas at once.

🚲

What to ride

The Lodz public bike scheme closed after the 2025 season and no relaunch has been announced for 2026, so you ride your own. The flat terrain suits a bike or an e-bike, but steer clear of the area around al. 1 Maja: work on the cross-city tunnel has stalled since the contractor's deal was terminated in February 2026, and the diversions there will be in place for a long time.

💡 Worth knowing before your first shift in Lodz

Position yourself on ul. 6 Sierpnia rather than in the middle of Piotrkowska — you have several strong venues within reach and you leave the bike at the door instead of wheeling it down a pedestrian street. The tenement courtyards in Śródmieście can be a maze with unreadable numbering: before you ride through an archway, ring ahead to check which entrance gets you to the customer.

Bolt Food compared with other apps

With a smaller stream of orders than the competition, Lodz can be hard work for Bolt Food — in the middle of the day it can fall completely silent. In the evening, though, within two kilometres of Piotrkowska and 6 Sierpnia, the app running alongside your main one regularly throws in routes nobody else is offering at that moment.

How to become a Bolt Food courier: from the form to your first delivery

Starting with Bolt Food always runs through a partner fleet — unlike Uber Eats or Wolt, a company of your own changes nothing here, because the platform simply does not enter into a B2B contract with a courier. You register with a partner, upload your documents online, complete a short training course and wait for your account to be activated.

1
Fill in the form and proceed to registration

Full name, e-mail, phone — you'll land in the partner's system with fields prefilled.

2
Upload documents and sign the contract online

Everything step by step on the site — no office visit. Do it right away, no need to wait for a call.

3
Download the partner's app

Settlements and payouts live there. An advisor may call later — anything up to a week on; your registration keeps moving anyway.

Frequently asked — Bolt Food Lodz

How much does a Bolt Food courier earn in Lodz?

A delivery here most often works out at around 8–12 zł gross, with the upper end in higher-multiplier zones and in bad weather. All the amounts in the app are gross, so you estimate net by dividing by 1.23; with a thinner stream of orders than at the competition, the hourly result comes down mainly to how many offers you manage to accept.

From what time does Bolt Food run in Lodz?

Orders start later here than anywhere in the country — from roughly 10:00, and they run until around 23:00. There is practically no morning window, so plan your sessions from the afternoon and aim for the 17:30–21:30 band.

Can I hire a city bike in Lodz for deliveries?

The public hire scheme is gone: the Lodz public bike system ceased operating after the 2025 season and no relaunch was planned for 2026 despite a residents' petition. Riding with Bolt Food therefore needs your own bike, moped or car.

Do I have to accept every order on Bolt Food?

Declining is allowed, but within limits — Bolt expects 80% of orders accepted and says so officially. The trap for new couriers is unaccepted orders: if you do not react within about a minute, the system treats it as a refusal. Too low an acceptance rate sits on the official list of reasons for blocking an account, so it is worth watching from your very first week.

Do I have to book slots or declare hours on Bolt Food?

Instead of a calendar you have an ordinary online button. For many couriers that is the main reason to keep this app alongside others — you can switch it on for two hours on a Wednesday and not touch it for a week, with no consequences whatsoever. The one exception is an order already accepted, which has to be completed.

How does Bolt Food calculate the delivery fee?

Three elements build the fee — the pickup, the delivery and the kilometres from the restaurant to the customer — topped up by multipliers, bonuses and tips, which go to the courier in full. The dynamic situation also feeds in: the weather, the traffic and how many couriers are available nearby. We will not quote specific rates, because Bolt stopped publishing them in April 2024 — what is left on the official site is the method without the numbers.

Why does the amount in the app not match what lands in my account?

The app counts in gross, so the daily summary always looks better than the transfer. You estimate the real amount by dividing the result by 1.23; on top of that come deductions such as the bag charge or the cash settlement. The full breakdown sits with the settlement partner, because they are the ones running the payouts.

Are there cash orders on Bolt Food?

Cash returned to Bolt Food in 2026 and works in every Polish city the platform runs in. The rule is convenient: you need neither your own money nor change, and the debt limit is 200 zł — once you hit it, cash orders stop coming through. You hand the collected cash back at restaurants on your next pickups, and the balance is settled with the weekly payout.

Do I have to buy the branded Bolt Food bag?

What is compulsory is the thermal bag itself, not a particular model — your own is fully accepted. If you do go for the branded one, expect a charge that later shows up in your deductions, plus a refundable deposit. The condition for the refund is straightforward: hand the bag back within 3 working days of closing the account.

What documents do I need, and what can I ride?

The platform's requirements are short: you must be 18 or over and hold a photo ID (a dowód osobisty — Polish ID card, a passport or a karta pobytu — residence card), a Polish phone number and a bank account. During registration you take a selfie with the document so that both the photo and the date of birth are visible. Bolt allows a bicycle, a scooter and a car, and partners add a moped to that; a short hygiene and health-and-safety training course is compulsory too.

I already ride for Bolt Food under another partner — can I switch?

Changing fleet on Bolt Food is distinctly simpler than on some other apps: there is no monthly cycle and no waiting for settlements to close. The new partner adds you to their books, you confirm it in a message to support in the Bolt app, and usually the next day you are already riding on the new terms.

Does Bolt Food pay for waiting at the restaurant?

Waiting beyond a quarter of an hour is paid — one of those details couriers only come to appreciate on a Friday evening, when the kitchens jam up. The compensation is added to the settlement for that order automatically; there is nothing to report.

How much can you realistically earn on Bolt Food?

Bolt advertises itself with a line about "up to 40 zł an hour", and that is as far as the official declarations go — the platform gives no detail and has not published a price list since 2024. A more useful reference point is the fee per delivery: it usually falls in the region of 8–15 zł gross, depending on zone and hour. The hourly result then follows from order density, and that is lower here than on the biggest apps.

Does Bolt Food really have fewer orders than Glovo and Wolt?

Let us say it plainly, because it is the most common complaint about this app: the order pool on Bolt Food is smaller and the restaurant portfolio narrower than at the two biggest players. That is the main downside and the reason couriers rarely treat it as their only source of work. In return you get zero planning, a fee visible before you accept, and an app you can switch on for two hours with no obligations at all.
