Lodz has close to six hundred forty thousand residents, nineteen universities, and an industrial past now turned into lofts, offices, and services. Restaurants line Piotrkowska Street and the surrounding blocks, with OFF Piotrkowska and Manufaktura, along with its whole retail complex, as standout hotspots. You'll deliver to Baluty, Retkinia, Widzew, and Gorna — Widzew alone covers almost a third of the city's area. Downtown offices add daytime orders, dorms keep things busy late at night, and the restored factory complexes run on their own rhythm.

Lodz for couriers: where, how and when

Bike — your own only.

Łódzki Rower Publiczny stopped operating at the end of 2025 and did not return in 2026, so for work you need your own bike. Lodz is flat, so a regular bike is perfectly fine.

Detours around al. 1 Maja.

Construction of the cross-city rail tunnel has stalled: in February 2026 PKP PLK terminated the contract with the builder, and there is no new completion date. The area around al. 1 Maja and Nowe Centrum Łodzi is still a building site with detours.

Śródmieście and ul. 6 Sierpnia.

Śródmieście has a population density several times higher than the rest of the city, and it has the most restaurants. Besides ul. Piotrkowska, it is worth knowing ul. 6 Sierpnia — one of the strongest restaurant streets in Lodz. Widzew covers almost a third of the city, so trips there are longer and a scooter works better.

Lumumbowo.

On ul. Lumumby stands the oldest student campus in Lodz — 9 dorms of UŁ, the Medical University and the University of Technology in one place. During the academic year that means many addresses in a small area.

Derbies and festivals.

On ŁKS and Widzew match days, and especially on derby days, avoid the stadium areas. In late September Light Move Festival draws evening crowds to the centre.

Is there a city bike scheme in Lodz?

Where in Lodz are most restaurants?
In Śródmieście: on ul. Piotrkowska and ul. 6 Sierpnia. It is the most densely populated part of the city.

How much can you earn as a food delivery courier?
You typically take home 25–55 zł an hour depending on the city, time and weather — that is after deductions, not gross. On Uber Eats in heavy rain or snow it can reach 60–80 zł/h: fewer couriers are out and the orders pile up. Your result depends on how many orders you accept, the distances and the bonuses running in that app. You see the rate for every job in the app before you accept it.
What documents do you need to work as a courier?
Basics: a valid ID or passport, PESEL number, and a Polish bank account for payouts. Non-EU foreigners also need a residence card, work-permit visa or UKR status (for Ukrainians). Cars and scooters require a driver's licence and vehicle papers. The whole verification runs online, usually through a settlement partner.
How does registration work and how long does it take?
You sign up online with a settlement partner — fill in the form, upload your documents, sign the contract. The partner then activates your account in the apps you chose. Bolt Food usually the same day or the next one, Uber Eats within 24–72 hours. With Wolt and Glovo the timing depends on whether your city is currently recruiting couriers — if it is, that's a couple of days. Your advisor checks this before you gather any paperwork.
How does the courier rating system work?
Every platform scores your work: acceptance rate, delivery time, customer feedback. A higher rating unlocks bonuses and better conditions in the apps. In your city from 5 October 2026 Glovo needs no slot booking, but the metrics still count. Be polite at the door, deliver on time and avoid cancelling accepted orders — your rating will take care of itself.
Do you need experience to become a courier?
No experience required. You need a phone, a means of transport, a thermal bag and a basic feel for the city — the app teaches you the rest. The first 1–2 days can feel chaotic (no-lift buildings, confusing addresses), but after a week the routine clicks. Everyone started from zero.
Do you need a powerbank while working?
A powerbank is essential — apps with GPS drain your phone in 3–4 hours. Without a working phone you cannot accept orders or reach addresses. Pick a model with at least 10 000 mAh and fast charging. Keep a spare cable in your bag.
Which days of the week are most profitable?
Friday, Saturday and Sunday usually deliver 2–3× more orders than Tuesday or Wednesday. Evenings between 18 and 22 are strongest, lunch 12–14 is the second peak. The end of the month is slower because people watch their spending. Paydays, match weekends and holidays are good times for longer shifts.
