The town lies on 44 islands, of which three are inhabited: Usedom, Wolin and Karsibór; water covers more than half of its 202 km². On Usedom itself, home to the centre and the seaside district, a bike or e-bike covers most runs.
A tunnel under the Świna instead of a ferry
Since 30 June 2023 a tunnel under the Świna has linked Usedom and Wolin — one lane each way, 50 km/h. Pedestrians and cyclists still use the Bielik ferries at Warszów, and the city bus goes through the tunnel to the PKP station.
Śródmieście, Warszów and Karsibór
On Usedom you find Śródmieście, Dzielnica Nadmorska, Płachcin, Ulno and the Posejdon estate, among others; on Wolin, Warszów, Przytór, Łunowo and Ognica; Karsibór is an island of its own.
A zone all year, longer in summer
The paid parking zone runs on weekdays — from October to April 9:00–18:00, and from May to September in subzone A until 22:00. The Śródmieście zone applies around the clock, 7 days a week.
The widest beach and a promenade to Germany
Świnoujście has the widest beach in Poland (up to 200 m), the Spa Park and a promenade that takes you to Heringsdorf in Germany. The town also has a port with ferries to Scandinavia and an LNG terminal.
