A compact town on two wheels
Zamosc covers about 30 km², so most runs are a few kilometres — an ordinary bike or e-bike is plenty, while in winter a scooter or car comes in handy. Slow down in the Old Town: the arcaded Rynek Wielki is busy with pedestrians and tourists.
DK74 through town, S17 under construction
The DK74 crosses Zamosc along ul. Szczebrzeska, ul. Dzieci Zamojszczyzny and al. 1 Maja; the tender to rebuild this roughly 5 km stretch was announced in 2021. The S17 is going up around town: Zamość Wschód – Zamość Południe is under construction, and the 12 km north-eastern bypass was out to tender in March 2026.
From Karolówka to Słoneczny Stok
Zamosc covers 30.48 km² with over a dozen estates. Expect addresses in Stare Miasto and Nowe Miasto, Karolówka, Planty, Promyk and Słoneczny Stok, plus the Zamoyskiego, Orzeszkowej, Rataja, Partyzantów and Powiatowa estates. Majdan, Janowice, Zamczysko and Świętego Piątka also lie within the city.
Galeria Twierdza and Rynek Wielki
Plenty of chain-restaurant pickups wait at Galeria Twierdza, ul. Przemysłowa 10 — the centre opened in 2011 and has almost 28,000 m² of retail space. In the centre, cafés and restaurants cluster around Rynek Wielki (about 100 × 100 m) with its town hall and the neighbouring Rynek Solny.
A Renaissance gem next to Roztocze
Bernardo Morando designed the Old Town inside the old fortress. Summer brings the Zamojskie Lato Teatralne theatre festival, and Jazz na Kresach has run since 1982. Zwierzyniec, gateway to Roztocze National Park, is about 30 km away, and the Ukrainian border crossings are under 60 km off.
