Chelm for couriers: the hill, the DK12, Galeria Chełm
Glovo and Uber Eats 25 km from Ukraine
The Ukrainian border is about 25 km away, and the town itself has 55,661 residents (as of 31.12.2025). You can deliver for Glovo, Uber Eats and Pyszne; since 14 September 2026 Glovo no longer requires slot bookings here. One settlement partner lets you combine several apps.
A chalk hill and the Uherka
The centre sits on a hill, the Górka, crowned by the basilica and riddled with chalk tunnels, so getting to the Old Town means climbing — an e-bike helps. You can rent or buy a bike or e-bike. A bike path follows the Uherka river.
DK12 through town, S12 still being built
The DK12 runs straight through Chelm — 8 km of it was rebuilt in 2021 with two viaducts over the railway, roundabouts and bike paths. The northern S12 bypass (13.7 km) is due to open in the first half of 2027. As of November 2025 there was still no paid parking zone.
From Dyrekcja to Słoneczne
Chelm covers 35.28 km². Addresses come up in Śródmieście below the hill, on the pre-war Dyrekcja estate (Dolna and Górna) along ul. Piłsudskiego from the station, on the Słoneczne estate and near Cementownia. In a town this compact, even a cross-town run is usually a few kilometres.
Galeria Chełm and plac Łuczkowskiego
Galeria Chełm on ul. Lubelska and Rejowiecka opened in 2020 and has over 17,000 m² of retail space — expect plenty of chain-restaurant pickups there. In the Old Town the heart of the city is plac Łuczkowskiego with its cafés, and the Chalk Tunnels route starts off ul. Lubelska.
A university with its own airfield
The State Academy of Applied Sciences at ul. Pocztowa 54 (PWSZ until 2022) trains future aeroplane and helicopter pilots, among others, and runs an airfield at Depułtycze Królewskie outside town. Students under 26 on an umowa zlecenie pay no ZUS or income tax.

What can make a route in Chelm longer?
The railway: the line to Kovel runs through town, and the DK12 crosses the tracks on two viaducts — use them rather than waiting at level crossings. Until the S12 bypass opens (planned for the first half of 2027), DK12 traffic towards Dorohusk goes through the city. In winter take care on the descents from the hill.
Which days and hours bring the most orders in Chelm?
Demand usually picks up around lunchtime and after 5 pm, when people get home from work, and on Fridays and Saturdays evening orders keep coming for longer. Rain and frost push numbers up too. During the academic year it pays to stay near PANS on ul. Pocztowa, and at weekends near Galeria Chełm.
