What working with Wolt looks like

Wolt came to Poland from Scandinavia and you can tell: a polished app, transparent fees and customers who order from better places. You see every job with its route and its amount in advance — you take what suits you, with no schedule to book.

A polished app and support that genuinely replies
No slot booking — you go online whenever you want to ride
Higher average basket and polite customers — they order from the better restaurants in the centre more often

Wolt — Katowice: where, when and what to ride

📍

Where the orders are

Śródmieście and the area around the Spodek are the base; the offices on Chorzowska drive the lunches, and Ligota lives on students. With Chorzow and Sosnowiec close by, you can change ground flexibly.

When to ride

Office lunches 12–14 and evenings 18–21; events at the Spodek and NOSPR make midweek spikes. Weekend evenings are steadily strong.

🚲

What to ride

The compact centre is bike work; a scooter helps for Ligota and for routes between the cities of the conurbation. In winter the smog can get to you — a mask is worth having.

💡 Worth knowing before your first shift in Katowice

Śródmieście and the Culture Zone area cover most of a shift; Ligota and Piotrowice are worth the ride mainly when the fee is boosted. During big events the app boosts fees — that is the time to stay out longer than you planned.

How Wolt differs from other apps

In Katowice Wolt holds the centre and the better places, and Silesian fees are among the best in the country. Glovo gives greater volume (and is more of an alternative than an add-on); Uber Eats and Bolt Food fill the gaps well.

How to become a Wolt courier: from the form to your first delivery

Starting with Wolt does not require a company of your own, but it does require a settlement partner — without one the platform will not open an account. You register with a partner from the official list, sign the contract online and, once activated, pick your first jobs.

1
Start with the short form

Full name, e-mail and phone — they carry over into the partner's system, so you type them once.

2
Documents and contract — online

Upload a scan of your ID on the site and sign the contract electronically. No need to wait for a call first.

3
Install the partner app

Settlements and payouts live there. The advisor may call later, even a week on — your registration moves ahead regardless.

Questions about working with Wolt — Katowice

How much does a Wolt courier make in Katowice?

Across Poland, delivery work usually comes to 25–55 zł net per hour, depending on the city, the app, the time of day and the weather; Wolt pays per task and tends to sit in the lower half of that scale. Silesia pays well: in Katowice, riding the peaks, it is usually 22–34 zł net per hour, and visibly more on the best evenings. You see the fee for a job up front.

Can I ride Wolt in other cities of the conurbation?

The zones are separate, and your account is still tied to one city — you report a zone change to support, and it usually takes up to one working day.

Where should I wait for Wolt jobs in Katowice?

Around the Rynek and the Spodek is the safe bet; at lunchtime closer to the offices on Chorzowska, in the evening the Culture Zone and the centre.

What documents do I need to deliver with Wolt?

Polish citizens need a dowód osobisty (ID card). Foreigners add a passport and a document confirming legal stay — a karta pobytu (residence card), a visa or PESEL UKR. You go through the paperwork with the partner's advisor, who will tell you exactly what applies in your case.

Do I need to register my own business?

A company of your own is not needed — through a settlement partner you ride completely legally without registering a działalność gospodarcza (sole proprietorship). The contract, the taxes and the ZUS (social insurance) contributions are on the partner's side, and our partner is on Wolt's official list of partners.

Do I have to accept every job?

Turning a job down is not punished — you can simply let it go. Wolt publishes no official threshold, but you can see your acceptance rate in the app, and from couriers' experience it is better to keep it above 60%, and closer to 80% is more comfortable: accounts have been blocked where the rate was very low and jobs were dropped often. Cancelling a job you have already accepted is a separate matter — there is a limit on those and you report them through support.

Do I have to book slots with Wolt?

Wolt does not use a slot system — you do not reserve hours ahead of time. You switch the app on when you have time and take the jobs offered; for many couriers the absence of a schedule is the main reason they choose this app.

How do jobs reach me, and how do I know what I will earn?

The app offers you a job with the route and the fee on screen — you decide whether to take it. The amount depends on distance (a maximum of 10 kilometres is paid), on how many orders are active and on the weather, and at peak times fees get boosted. Wolt publishes no price list: every job is priced separately.

Will I get equipment — a bag and a jacket?

You need a thermal bag for deliveries, and that is the only genuinely compulsory piece of kit. The platform does not hand them out — you buy or rent one from the settlement partner, and kit from another app will normally do at the start.

Do tips go to the courier?

The tip amount shows in your settlement alongside the fee for the job and stays with you. Some couriers say tipping happens less often on Wolt than on Uber Eats — treat it as a bonus, not a plan.

When will I see my first money?

Settlements and payouts run through the partner's app, and you request the transfer whenever you want — BLIK included, every day if you like. There are no fixed payout cycles to wait for.

Do I need to speak Polish?

Basic Polish or English is enough — the app is simple and map-based. Registration with the partner also works in Russian and Ukrainian, and support replies in your language.

What is a settlement partner in Wolt?

It is the middleman between courier and platform: it takes on the contract, the taxes and the payouts. Wolt vets such companies and publishes their list — it is worth checking that the partner you are going to is genuinely on it. Ours is.

I already deliver with Wolt under another partner — can I switch?

Switching is possible, but not overnight: the request to Wolt is filed by both partners — your current one and the new one — and the account only switches over on the first working day after the month closes. You do not terminate the contract with the old partner yourself, because they are the ones settling your current month. We have a step-by-step guide on a separate page.
