Working with Uber Eats — how it works
Uber Eats is sometimes called the app for people who cannot stand rotas: no booking hours, no acceptance threshold, no waiting for recruitment in your city to open. On every job you know the fee and the approximate customer area up front, with the exact address revealed once you collect the food. The payout is counted from pickup, delivery and kilometres, and bonuses for runs of jobs can reshape the result of a whole evening.

Beyond the crowded core, most of the action is in Ruczaj, where seven Jagiellonian University faculties concentrate roughly a third of its students, and at the AGH student campus — twenty halls of residence and 7,000–8,000 residents in one place. Prądnik Biały is the most populous district in the city (over 72,000), Grzegórzki mixes offices with blocks around rondo Mogilskie, and Nowa Huta has grown a food scene of its own that locals call Hip Huta.
When to ride
The calendar matters more here than the time of day: Juwenalia 2026 runs for two weeks (13–23 May), Corpus Christi on 4 June paralyses the centre with processions between 9:30 and 14:00, and from 2026 the Intel Extreme Masters finals, previously held in Katowice, have moved to Krakow. July is the wettest month (105 mm), which with weather supplements can be good news.
What to ride
Krakow has no city bike scheme in the classic sense — Wavelo shut down, leaving Park&e-Bike at the P+R car parks and long-term rentals. The cycle network runs to about 316 km, but the terrain counts too: Krzemionki above Podgórze reaches 270 m above sea level and looks very different on a moped than on an ordinary bike. Cars are subject to the clean transport zone, and vehicles that fail the standards enter in 2026 for 100 zł a month.
If you drive, add up the cost of the clean transport zone and parking before you write Krakow off as a four-wheel market — in the centre the first hour of parking for a non-resident costs 9 zł and rises with every hour after that. On routes to Podgórze, plan the climb up to Krzemionki as a separate leg: the height difference can add several minutes to every delivery.
How Uber Eats differs from other apps
Krakow is among the best-paying Uber Eats markets in the country, but the numbers quoted in fleet listings are gross figures including VAT and an upper limit rather than an average. Glovo wins here on reach and shops, Wolt on better restaurants inside the Planty ring, and Uber Eats on the complete absence of commitments and a large share of quests in the payout.

Nationwide, couriers usually take home 25–55 zł net per hour, depending on the city, the app, the time of day and the weather. In Krakow, riding the peaks regularly, the realistic band is 44–53 zł net per hour, depending on the season and your vehicle — the tourist season plus November and December come out best. These are take-home figures, already after the settlement partner's commission and contributions, so you can set them straight against other apps.
Will Uber Eats get me into the restricted traffic zone?
Permits for the zones, which cover not only the Rynek but Kazimierz too, are issued in limited numbers, and the zone itself contains over 700 food venues. A bike or a moped solves the problem at source — which is why they dominate among Krakow couriers.

Watch out for one trap: a karta pobytu issued for a specific employer requires the decision to be amended before you start riding.
Does Uber Eats require a criminal record certificate?
A criminal record certificate is not something Uber Eats asks for — and do not let anyone tell you otherwise. Uber does not ask couriers for a criminal record certificate from the National Criminal Register, even though some intermediaries' websites claim it does. A trip to court for a certificate is a wasted day and wasted money; what gets checked is your identity and your right to work, not your record.
What do I see before I accept a job?
Before you tap Accept you see the restaurant name, the fee for the job, the expected time and a map with two points. The customer point is approximate — the actual house number appears after you collect the order. That is a difference from Wolt, where you know the address straight away, and the reason why knowing your districts counts for so much on Uber Eats.
Do I have to accept every job?
Nobody makes you take everything: turning an offer down costs nothing, and the acceptance rate is not a gate on Uber Eats. If after accepting you realise the restaurant is stalling or the route does not suit you, you unhook yourself through problem with the order, provided you do not have the food yet. What does get punished is repeated lateness at pickup — the first time usually ends in a block of about an hour and a half.
Do I have to book slots or wait for recruitment to open?
There is no schedule on Uber Eats in any form: no slots to book, no required availability and — unlike Glovo, Wolt or Bolt Food — no recruitment windows that open and close. You ride when you have time: switch the app on, tap Go, and that is it.
How much can you realistically earn, and where does the difference come from?
Earnings on Uber Eats are strongly seasonal: November and December can be several times better than July. The base has been hidden since the reform at the end of October 2024, so couriers look at what they can see — the amount on the job, the active quests and the zone multiplier. One detail surprises a lot of people: those who ride the most get harder quests for the same money (30 deliveries instead of 15), and a two- or three-week break usually brings the standard thresholds back.
I already ride with Uber Eats under another partner — can I switch?
Changing partner on Uber Eats is the fastest switch in the whole delivery market. You terminate the contract with your current company by email, register with the new one and get a fleet invitation — confirmation usually arrives the next day, and your first payout a day after that. For comparison: on Bolt Food it takes a day through support, on Wolt it only happens once the month closes, and on Glovo it takes 2–3 days.
Can I combine Uber Eats with other apps?
Combining apps is allowed — the one platform with an explicit ban on multi-apping during paid hours is Pyszne. Bolt Food and Wolt work best alongside Uber Eats. Just be careful with stacking: an approximate customer area is not enough to judge whether two jobs really are on the same route.
When and how do I get paid?
The money comes through the settlement partner, not directly from Uber. The most common rhythm is once a week, but you can withdraw more often, and the fastest route is a BLIK cheque: a code from the app and cash from an ATM within minutes.
How do cash orders work?
Cash came back to Uber Eats in June 2026 and works differently than on other apps: the money from the customer stays with you, and the system subtracts it from your subsequent cashless payouts — earn 500 zł, collect 200 zł in cash, and 300 zł lands in your account. You only get such orders when your positive balance covers the amount, and you see them marked before you accept. You do not hand the cash to the restaurant, and if you do not want cash at all you switch the option off in the Uber Driver settings.
