Tarnowskie Gory sits where the Upper Silesian conurbation meets a quieter stretch of Silesia, and commuting sets the rhythm. In the morning many residents head off to Bytom and Katowice, then come home after four — that's your best hour. Weekends bring extra visitors to the historic mine and old town, though that's more a bonus than the backbone of the market. The city's biggest strength is stability: no spikes, no dead weeks.

Restaurants cluster around the market square and nearby streets, with a few spots near larger shops. The real challenge: the town grew out of several merged settlements, so it's sprawling, and some districts sit genuinely far from center. One delivery to the outskirts can take as long as two downtown, so check where a route leads before accepting it.

Frequently asked questions

How much can you earn as a food delivery courier?
You typically take home 25–55 zł an hour depending on the city, time and weather — that is after deductions, not gross. On Uber Eats in heavy rain or snow it can reach 60–80 zł/h: fewer couriers are out and the orders pile up. Your result depends on how many orders you accept, the distances and the bonuses running in that app. You see the rate for every job in the app before you accept it.
What documents do you need to work as a courier?
Basics: a valid ID or passport, PESEL number, and a Polish bank account for payouts. Non-EU foreigners also need a residence card, work-permit visa or UKR status (for Ukrainians). Cars and scooters require a driver's licence and vehicle papers. The whole verification runs online, usually through a settlement partner.
How does registration work and how long does it take?
You sign up online with a settlement partner — fill in the form, upload your documents, sign the contract. The partner then activates your account in the apps you chose. Bolt Food usually the same day or the next one, Uber Eats within 24–72 hours. With Wolt and Glovo the timing depends on whether your city is currently recruiting couriers — if it is, that's a couple of days. Your advisor checks this before you gather any paperwork.
Can you work at night?
Yes, though the hours depend on the city. In Warsaw Bolt Food takes orders until roughly one in the morning; in other cities usually until 23:00–24:00, and in smaller towns until 22–23. Late in the evening there are fewer couriers on the streets, so there can be more orders per person. Handy for students and anyone combining delivery with another job.
What to do if the customer doesn't answer the door?
Try calling through the app first — the customer's number is hidden, but the call goes through. At Bolt Food the rule is three contact attempts and ten minutes of waiting; at Uber Eats the app counts down seven minutes. The exact sequence is always shown in the app itself. Then report it to support — once they confirm, you either leave the order at the door or take it back to the restaurant. How that trip is paid is decided by the app's own support.
Do you need a powerbank while working?
A powerbank is essential — apps with GPS drain your phone in 3–4 hours. Without a working phone you cannot accept orders or reach addresses. Pick a model with at least 10 000 mAh and fast charging. Keep a spare cable in your bag.
Can you rent a vehicle instead of buying one?
Yes — the settlement partner rents out e-bikes from 210 zł per week (Warsaw, Poznań, Wrocław, Łódź, Bydgoszcz, Tricity) and an electric delivery car from 150 zł per week in Warsaw. Servicing, tyres, inspections, OC and AC cover and a replacement car in case of breakdown are all included. The rate depends on the city, and an advisor checks availability when you register. It's a sensible way in if you'd rather not buy your own vehicle straight away.
