Tram lines meet at pl. Sikorskiego and fan out in six directions — mind the rails on a bike in the centre. The centre has a paid parking zone, extended in 2020–2021 to streets such as Batorego, Kolejowa and Matejki.

Miechowice, Stroszek, Szombierki

Bytom formally has no districts, but addresses are described by traditional names: Śródmieście, Rozbark, Miechowice, Stroszek, Szombierki, Łagiewniki, Karb, Sucha Góra or Stolarzowice. Knowing them helps you judge a trip at a glance.

Agora by the Rynek

Galeria Agora, opened in 2010 about 60 m from the Rynek, has some 120 shops and units. The city also has the Plejada and M1 centres — the main retail spots you will pick up from.

Mining damage

Decades of mining have lowered the ground in Bytom by about 5.5 m on average, and by up to 7 m in places on the Miechowice–Karb border between 2011 and 2021. Uneven surfaces and patched roads are normal here — ride carefully on a bike or scooter.
