A compact town for cycling

Kwidzyn covers just 21.82 km² and sits on the Liwa river, about 5 km from the Vistula, at roughly 42 m above sea level. Most runs in town are easy on an ordinary bike or an e-bike. A cycle path heading towards Mareza follows the embankment of a former narrow-gauge railway dating from 1901.

DK55, DK90 and the Vistula bridge

National roads 55 and 90 meet in Kwidzyn. Since 26 July 2013 the DK90 has crossed the Vistula on an 808 m bridge — before that there was only the ferry at Korzeniewo. On ul. Kościuszki and part of ul. Braterstwa Narodów a limited-stay zone has applied since 2017–2018: parking is free Mon–Fri 10:00–17:00, but only for up to one hour with a parking disc — check the signs on site.

From Stare Miasto to Zatorze

The town is split into 15 planning units. Most addresses are in Stare Miasto, os. Piastowskie, Bajkowe, Spółdzielcze, Hallera i Bema, Zacisze, Nad Liwą and Zatorze I and II. The eastern part and the pulp mill site are industrial land, and forests cover almost 25% of the town.

Stare Miasto and CH Liwa

The historic centre lies in the triangle of ul. Braterstwa Narodów, ul. Grudziądzka and ul. Kościuszki, with restaurants, shops and the main market. The other key spot is CH Liwa, opened in November 2015: more than 10,000 m², about 30 units and a surface car park.

Pulp, electronics and a castle

Kwidzyn is an industrial town: its pulp and paper mill, founded in 1971 and run by Mayr-Melnhof since 2021, is one of Poland's largest, and Jabil is the second-biggest employer. Above the town stands the 14th-century Pomesanian chapter castle — a Historic Monument with a museum and a 1343–1384 cathedral.
