Swiecie runs three shifts, and that changes a courier's whole day. The cellulose plant never sleeps, so orders can show up at hours when a town this size would otherwise be dead quiet. On top of that comes the normal county-town rhythm: lunch at offices and shops, evening on the estates. Weekends are strong but shorter — Saturday wraps up earlier here than in bigger centers.
One distinctive feature: the town has two levels. The newer part, with its estates, shops and most of the restaurants, sits up on the plateau, while the old part, near the castle ruins and the mouth of the Wda, sits low in the valley. An order can start up top and end dozens of meters lower — or the other way around, which is far less pleasant.

How much can you earn as a food delivery courier?
You typically take home 25–55 zł an hour depending on the city, time and weather — that is after deductions, not gross. On Uber Eats in heavy rain or snow it can reach 60–80 zł/h: fewer couriers are out and the orders pile up. Your result depends on how many orders you accept, the distances and the bonuses running in that app. You see the rate for every job in the app before you accept it.
What documents do you need to work as a courier?
Basics: a valid ID or passport, PESEL number, and a Polish bank account for payouts. Non-EU foreigners also need a residence card, work-permit visa or UKR status (for Ukrainians). Cars and scooters require a driver's licence and vehicle papers. The whole verification runs online, usually through a settlement partner.
How does registration work and how long does it take?
You sign up online with a settlement partner — fill in the form, upload your documents, sign the contract. The partner then activates your account in the apps you chose. Bolt Food usually the same day or the next one, Uber Eats within 24–72 hours. With Wolt and Glovo the timing depends on whether your city is currently recruiting couriers — if it is, that's a couple of days. Your advisor checks this before you gather any paperwork.
Do you need experience to become a courier?
No experience required. You need a phone, a means of transport, a thermal bag and a basic feel for the city — the app teaches you the rest. The first 1–2 days can feel chaotic (no-lift buildings, confusing addresses), but after a week the routine clicks. Everyone started from zero.
How much does a thermal bag cost and where do you get one?
The settlement partner gives you a thermal bag for free — you don't need to buy one. The platforms themselves neither hand out nor sell equipment. If you already have your own bag from another app, you can ride with it: all that matters is that it holds temperature, branded logos aren't required.
Is it worth using your own car, and who pays for fuel?
Fuel, servicing and parking are on you — since July 2026 Glovo no longer accepts expense invoices for fuel, parts or gear. A car earns its keep on the outskirts, on large grocery orders and in winter, while a bike usually wins in a tight city centre. Valid motor third-party cover (OC) is mandatory and platform insurance doesn't replace it. The settlement partner also offers its own insurance packages (OC, AC, NNW, assistance) for people driving for apps.
What to do if the customer doesn't answer the door?
Try calling through the app first — the customer's number is hidden, but the call goes through. At Bolt Food the rule is three contact attempts and ten minutes of waiting; at Uber Eats the app counts down seven minutes. The exact sequence is always shown in the app itself. Then report it to support — once they confirm, you either leave the order at the door or take it back to the restaurant. How that trip is paid is decided by the app's own support.
