Poznan has over half a million residents, trade fairs, corporate offices and one of the country's largest student populations. Orders run all week, but their character shifts hour by hour: offices dominate mornings and midday, student halls and rented flats take over after classes, and by evening the whole city is ordering. Big trade fair events can lift traffic in a specific area for days at a time.

Restaurants pack Stare Miasto, Jezyce, Lazarz and Wilda, with plenty more in shopping centres and near office buildings. You will deliver to Rataje, Winogrady and Piatkowo — the huge estates on both banks of the Warta — as well as new developments in Grunwald. The river and railway tracks divide the city more than the map suggests, since crossings are limited.

Poznan for couriers: where, how and when

Your own bike is a must.

Poznański Rower Miejski has been shut down, so for work you need your own bike or e-bike. The good news: Wielkopolska is one of the driest regions in Poland, so rain gets in the way less often than in many other cities.

Students in the north of the city.

Poznan has more students per thousand residents than any other city in Poland. The Morasko campus is 10–12 km from the centre, and the Zbyszko and Jagienka dorms stand on ul. Piątkowska, next to the large Piątkowo estate. If you live in the north, these addresses are close at hand.

Trade fairs and matches.

Międzynarodowe Targi Poznańskie hold several dozen events a year — on big fair days the area around MTP and the station can be gridlocked. On Lech match days avoid the stadium area on ul. Bułgarska.

11 November — croissants.

On 11 November ulica Święty Marcin celebrates its name day: there is a big street festival in the centre, some streets are closed to traffic, and St Martin’s croissants (rogale świętomarcińskie) sell like hot cakes.

Weekends at the allotment.

In spring and summer many Poznan residents spend weekends at their allotments, so housing estates can be quieter than on weekdays.

How much can you earn as a food delivery courier?
You typically take home 25–55 zł an hour depending on the city, time and weather — that is after deductions, not gross. On Uber Eats in heavy rain or snow it can reach 60–80 zł/h: fewer couriers are out and the orders pile up. Your result depends on how many orders you accept, the distances and the bonuses running in that app. You see the rate for every job in the app before you accept it.
What documents do you need to work as a courier?
Basics: a valid ID or passport, PESEL number, and a Polish bank account for payouts. Non-EU foreigners also need a residence card, work-permit visa or UKR status (for Ukrainians). Cars and scooters require a driver's licence and vehicle papers. The whole verification runs online, usually through a settlement partner.
How does registration work and how long does it take?
You sign up online with a settlement partner — fill in the form, upload your documents, sign the contract. The partner then activates your account in the apps you chose. Bolt Food usually the same day or the next one, Uber Eats within 24–72 hours. With Wolt and Glovo the timing depends on whether your city is currently recruiting couriers — if it is, that's a couple of days. Your advisor checks this before you gather any paperwork.
Can you work through the winter and what changes?
Winter is the strongest season: November and December bring the highest multipliers and the best quests, while summer is a clear low point. Order volume rises because people stay in, and plenty of couriers simply skip the cold and the snow. Warm touchscreen gloves, a waterproof jacket and decent boots pay for themselves within two shifts. On icy roads a bike or e-scooter gets risky, so many couriers switch to a car for the winter.
What happens if you decline orders often?
It depends on the app. Bolt Food has the only officially published threshold — an 80% acceptance rate — and a low rate sits outright on its list of reasons for blocking an account; missed offers count the same as rejected ones. Wolt officially doesn't penalise declines and publishes no threshold, though it does show you an acceptance indicator, and on Uber Eats declining carries no consequences. On Glovo your acceptance share feeds the Excellence Score; there are no slots to book in your city from 5 October 2026, but declines can still cost you access to the account.
Which transport is best for courier work?
In big city centres a bike beats a car because of traffic and paid parking zones. A scooter is the middle ground when you want to work the peak hours. A car pays off on the outskirts and with heavy shop orders. An e-scooter works well in compact centres over short distances.
How does the Glovo bonus system work?
Glovo adds bonuses for working peak hours, bad weather and completing a target number of deliveries in a given period. Bonus amounts vary by city and week. Active promotions show up in the earnings tab — check before you start a shift.
