Plock has 120,000 people and a refinery that never stops running. Shifts at the plant and nearby companies spread demand differently than in an office town — orders can land early morning or late at night, not just at the usual mealtimes. On top of that there is ordinary city life along the escarpment above the Vistula.

Restaurants cluster around the Old Market and Cathedral Hill, and you will deliver mostly toward large estates on the eastern side of the city and to blocks near the plant. The left bank of the Vistula is its own story — an address can look close on the map, but crossing the bridge adds real time.

Plock on the Vistula: the escarpment, bridges and roadworks

The Old Town on the escarpment.

The Old Town and Tumskie Hill (Wzgórze Tumskie) sit on the Vistula escarpment, about 50 m above the surrounding area, so from the river and Radziwie you face a steep climb. On a bike, electric assist is useful.

City bikes: 500 bikes until the end of November.

In 2026 the Plock city bike system (Płocki Rower Miejski) has 500 bikes at 41 stations, including at Galeria Mazovia, on Nowy Rynek and in Radziwie. It works 24 hours a day until 30 November; with the PłocKArta card the first 20 minutes are free.

Two bridges cross the Vistula: the Solidarność Bridge and the older Legionów Piłsudskiego Bridge. By bike you cross on the footbridge next to the Solidarność Bridge — the footbridge under the Legionów Bridge is due only at the end of 2027.

The centre: roadworks and paid parking.

On al. Jachowicza and Kobylińskiego traffic uses one carriageway — this setup should last until the end of 2026. The paid parking zone (Strefa Płatnego Parkowania) covers the Old Town and, since April 2026, also streets such as Kościuszki and Warszawska; you pay Monday to Friday, 8:00–17:00.

Shopping centres on Wyszogrodzka.

Galeria Mazovia and Galeria Wisła stand on ul. Wyszogrodzka — you pick up many restaurant orders here. Students study at places like the branch of Warsaw University of Technology (Politechnika Warszawska) and Akademia Mazowiecka.

How much can you earn as a food delivery courier?
You typically take home 25–55 zł an hour depending on the city, time and weather — that is after deductions, not gross. On Uber Eats in heavy rain or snow it can reach 60–80 zł/h: fewer couriers are out and the orders pile up. Your result depends on how many orders you accept, the distances and the bonuses running in that app. You see the rate for every job in the app before you accept it.
What documents do you need to work as a courier?
Basics: a valid ID or passport, PESEL number, and a Polish bank account for payouts. Non-EU foreigners also need a residence card, work-permit visa or UKR status (for Ukrainians). Cars and scooters require a driver's licence and vehicle papers. The whole verification runs online, usually through a settlement partner.
How does registration work and how long does it take?
You sign up online with a settlement partner — fill in the form, upload your documents, sign the contract. The partner then activates your account in the apps you chose. Bolt Food usually the same day or the next one, Uber Eats within 24–72 hours. With Wolt and Glovo the timing depends on whether your city is currently recruiting couriers — if it is, that's a couple of days. Your advisor checks this before you gather any paperwork.
Can you work without speaking Polish?
Yes — most apps support English, Russian and Ukrainian. Contact with restaurants is usually limited to showing the order number, and customers only see the delivery address. A few simple Polish phrases help at pickup but are not required. Fleet-partner support also operates in Russian and Ukrainian.
How much does a thermal bag cost and where do you get one?
The settlement partner gives you a thermal bag for free — you don't need to buy one. The platforms themselves neither hand out nor sell equipment. If you already have your own bag from another app, you can ride with it: all that matters is that it holds temperature, branded logos aren't required.
Does weather affect the number of orders?
It really does. Rain, snow and cold push orders up because people stay home. Many couriers also stop working in bad weather, which means more deliveries for those who go out. Get a proper rain jacket and waterproof phone covers — they pay for themselves in one shift.
What happens if you decline orders often?
It depends on the app. Bolt Food has the only officially published threshold — an 80% acceptance rate — and a low rate sits outright on its list of reasons for blocking an account; missed offers count the same as rejected ones. Wolt officially doesn't penalise declines and publishes no threshold, though it does show you an acceptance indicator, and on Uber Eats declining carries no consequences. On Glovo your acceptance share feeds the Excellence Score; there are no slots to book in your city from 28 September 2026, but declines can still cost you access to the account.
