Since 7 November 2022 through traffic has skirted the town on a northern DK40 bypass more than 14 km long, with an arch bridge over the Gliwice Canal, past Sławięcice towards the A4. In town the main routes include al. Jana Pawła II, ul. Grunwaldzka and the Długosza and Ludwikowskiego bridges.

Kedzierzyn-Kozle was formed in 1975 by merging Koźle, Kędzierzyn, Sławięcice and Kłodnica, which is why it covers 123.4 km² and has 12 districts, from Koźle Port and Koźle Rogi to Azoty, Cisowa and Blachownia Śląska. A run between the former towns takes noticeably longer than one within an estate.

Azoty, the port and ZAKSA volleyball
Zakłady Azotowe Kędzierzyn, part of Grupa Azoty, is one of Poland's largest chemical plants; Blachownia Śląska has a power station and Koźle a port on the Oder. The town is also famous for ZAKSA: the volleyball club, playing at Hala Azoty (3,375 seats), has won the CEV Champions League three times.
