Kielce is the regional capital and a university city - tens of thousands of students visibly lift the evenings from October to June. Trade fairs several times a year bring in visitors and fill the hotels. July and August are the quietest months, once students leave town and residents head for the Swietokrzyskie mountains.

Restaurants stick to the pedestrian strip and the city centre, so pickups usually stay within a few streets. You'll deliver to the big estates - Slichowice, Barwinek, Zagorska - and around the student dorms. A separate stream comes from offices and the fairgrounds, where during events the same addresses can come up all day. Shopping centres scattered across town add further traffic.

In 2026 the Kielce city bike system (Kielecki Rower Miejski) has about 300 bikes at 57 stations, including 30 electric bikes and 10 electric cargo bikes. It is seasonal — in winter the bikes disappear from the streets, so to work all year you need your own.

Kielce is hilly.

The highest point within the city limits is Telegraf (406 m above sea level), and the city also has Kadzielnia and Karczówka. On a bike you will feel the climbs, so many couriers choose an e-bike or a scooter.

Paid parking with 45 free minutes.

The paid parking zone (Strefa Płatnego Parkowania) applies Monday to Friday, 9:00–17:00, in two subzones: A in the centre and B around it. The first 45 minutes of parking are free in the whole zone — usually enough to pick up an order.

Echo and Korona before long weekends.

The most restaurants in one place are in Galeria Echo and Galeria Korona. Before long weekends and holidays there are big traffic jams around them, for example on al. Solidarności and Jesionowa.

Two big universities.

Kielce University of Technology (Politechnika Świętokrzyska) on al. Tysiąclecia Państwa Polskiego has 6 dorms on campus (about 1300 places), and Jan Kochanowski University (Uniwersytet Jana Kochanowskiego) has about 9500 students. From October, evening orders from the dorms go up.

How much can you earn as a food delivery courier?
You typically take home 25–55 zł an hour depending on the city, time and weather — that is after deductions, not gross. On Uber Eats in heavy rain or snow it can reach 60–80 zł/h: fewer couriers are out and the orders pile up. Your result depends on how many orders you accept, the distances and the bonuses running in that app. You see the rate for every job in the app before you accept it.
What documents do you need to work as a courier?
Basics: a valid ID or passport, PESEL number, and a Polish bank account for payouts. Non-EU foreigners also need a residence card, work-permit visa or UKR status (for Ukrainians). Cars and scooters require a driver's licence and vehicle papers. The whole verification runs online, usually through a settlement partner.
How does registration work and how long does it take?
You sign up online with a settlement partner — fill in the form, upload your documents, sign the contract. The partner then activates your account in the apps you chose. Bolt Food usually the same day or the next one, Uber Eats within 24–72 hours. With Wolt and Glovo the timing depends on whether your city is currently recruiting couriers — if it is, that's a couple of days. Your advisor checks this before you gather any paperwork.
What to do if the customer doesn't answer the door?
Try calling through the app first — the customer's number is hidden, but the call goes through. At Bolt Food the rule is three contact attempts and ten minutes of waiting; at Uber Eats the app counts down seven minutes. The exact sequence is always shown in the app itself. Then report it to support — once they confirm, you either leave the order at the door or take it back to the restaurant. How that trip is paid is decided by the app's own support.
Do you need a powerbank while working?
A powerbank is essential — apps with GPS drain your phone in 3–4 hours. Without a working phone you cannot accept orders or reach addresses. Pick a model with at least 10 000 mAh and fast charging. Keep a spare cable in your bag.
Do you need experience to become a courier?
No experience required. You need a phone, a means of transport, a thermal bag and a basic feel for the city — the app teaches you the rest. The first 1–2 days can feel chaotic (no-lift buildings, confusing addresses), but after a week the routine clicks. Everyone started from zero.
Does weather affect the number of orders?
It really does. Rain, snow and cold push orders up because people stay home. Many couriers also stop working in bad weather, which means more deliveries for those who go out. Get a proper rain jacket and waterproof phone covers — they pay for themselves in one shift.
