Brzeg for couriers: the Oder, the DK39, the Old Town

Halfway between Wroclaw and Opole sits Brzeg, home to 32,724 people (as of 31.12.2025). For now you deliver food here with Glovo, which has not required slot booking since 5 October 2026. When more apps arrive, one settlement partner will let you add them alongside Glovo.
The Oder valley and short distances
Brzeg lies in the Oder valley, about 150 m above sea level, and covers just 16 km², so most runs are short — a bike or e-bike is enough. The Old Town is ringed by 19th-century parks laid out on the former fortifications. Town buses also run across Brzeg.
DK39 through the centre, bypass still on paper
Through traffic on the DK39 still runs right through town. GDDKiA plans an 8.7 km bypass west of Brzeg, from the DK94/DK39 junction, with a bridge of about 700 m over the Oder; it expects to put it out to tender in 2027. In town you cross the river on Most Piastowski (ul. Krakusa).
Old Town, Westerplatte, Rataje, Kępa Młyńska
The 16 km² take in the Old Town, the Westerplatte estate and Rataje, which joined Brzeg in 1973. The former village of Małkowice is now Kępa Młyńska, an island in the Oder the town is redeveloping for a marina. Runs across the river or to the far end of Rataje take longer than central ones.
The Rynek, ul. Długa and the ul. Łokietka retail park
In the centre, find your way by the Rynek with its Renaissance town hall and ul. Długa, a promenade of restored townhouses. The castle stands on pl. Zamkowy. Outside the Old Town, on ul. Łokietka next to Kaufland, there is a retail park that grew from 3,000 to 8,500 m² in 2018.
The Silesian Wawel and its visitors
The Castle of the Silesian Piasts, known as the Silesian Wawel, houses the Museum of Silesian Piasts, and at least 43 members of the dynasty rest in St Hedwig's chapel. The town hall on the Rynek has free tours Tue–Sat. Local industry makes electric motors and confectionery, among other things.
